Sports drinks?

A marketing gimmick, pure and simple.

Health Drink - Xooma X2O! Does the average consumer derive any real benefit from the health drinks? It's a marketing gimmick, pure and simple. Most health experts agree that health drinks have electrolytes and sodium that are beneficial to professional athletes and marathoners, but have little value to the average user.

Health Drink - Xooma X2O! Consider that a loss of as little as 2% of one's body weight due to sweating, can lead to a drop in blood volume. When this occurs, the heart works harder in order to move blood through the bloodstream. Prehydration and rehydration are vital to maintaining cardiovascular health, proper body temperature and muscle function.

Health Drink - Xooma X2O! Health drinks can be helpful to athletes who are exercising at a high intensity for 90 minutes or more. Fluids supplying 60 to 100 calories per 8 ounces helps to supply the needed calories required for continuous performance. It's really not necessary to replace losses of sodium, potassium and other electrolytes during exercise since you're unlikely to deplete your body's stores of these minerals during normal training. If, however, you find yourself exercising in extreme conditions over 5 or 6 hours (an Ironman or ultramarathon, for example) you will need to add a complex health drink with electrolytes.

Health Drink - Xooma X2O! The natural choice for hydration is water. It hydrates better than any other liquid, both before and during exercise. Water tends to be less expensive and more available than any other drink. You need to drink 4-6 ounces of water for every 15-20 minutes of exercise. That can add up to a lot of water! Athletes who don't consume electrolytes under these conditions risk overhydration (or hyponatremia). The most likely occurrence is found in the longer events (five hours or more) when athletes drink excessive amounts of electrolyte free water, and develop hyponatremia (low blood sodium concentration).

Health Drink - Xooma X2O! The key to good hydration is drinking a lot of water before, during and after any workout or activity. Water is essential for proper bodily function. Health drinks aren’t the only way to consume electrolytes. Eating a normal diet will provide the body with more than enough electrolytes needed for exercising and physical activity.

im_4.jpg Power Drink - Xooma X2O! It is recommended that individuals consume a nutritionally balanced diet and drink adequate fluids during the 24-hr period before an event, especially during the period that includes the meal prior to exercise, to promote proper hydration before exercise or competition.

Power Drink - Xooma X2O! Proper hydration is extremely important during exercise. Should it be a special power drink? Adequate fluid intake for athletes, even the recreational kind, is essential to comfort, performance and safety. The longer and more intensely you exercise, the more important it is to drink plenty of fluids. Inadequate water consumption can be physically harmful.

Power Drink - Xooma X2O! While some people prefer the taste of water over other drinks, most people find it relatively bland and will stop drinking water before becoming fully hydrated. Water is the best, but it only helps you if you drink it. One of the reasons that power drinks are so popular is the fact that they taste good. Many manufacturers only add sugar, flavor and color to attract the consumer, even though the drink contains no electrolytes and is simply flavored water.

Power Drink - Xooma X2O! There's a certain appeal in drinking what Olympic athletes drink, but it should be just water if you're doing 10 minutes on a treadmill. And because many enhanced waters contain only small amounts of essential nutrients, consumers should look elsewhere for nutrition. That's what we have food for!

It’s official... KC (my grandson) is THE fastest 10 yr old in the nation! KC came home with a gold medal for finishing first in the 100 meter dash (12.94 seconds!) at the Nationals held last weekend! KC also earned a silver medal for placing 2nd in the long jump with a jump of 4.92 meters---that's over 16 feet! woo-hoo! Not bad for his 1st appearance in a national competition!

The USATF started out this year with 60,000 athletes. By the time they get done with State events and then the Regional events, they are down to 6,000 athletes who have qualified to participate at the Nationals (that certainly gives you an idea of the level of competition). We are very proud of him! His hard work and determination has paid off big time for him - what an honor for his 1st year.

In addition to KC’s determination, Xooma’s Xtreme X2O can also share some of the credit for his accomplishments at the Nationals. A few days prior to competition, he starts doubling up on X2O. He also drinks an 8 ounce glass of X20 water right before bedtime with a fresh sachet. The day of competition, he starts off his morning with two X2O sachets in 20 ounces of water. While at the track, he is constantly hydrating with X20 water.

Thank goodness for Xooma - we all needed it last weekend – it was over 100 degrees up there in Maryland! Kids were being carried off the field after finishing their races. It was tough.

Everybody should be drinking this stuff!!!!

I just wanted to let you know how Xtreme X2O has improved Josh's health and sports performance. Josh has asthma, he has used an inhaler and nebulizer since he was 4, he is now 9.

He and I both have been using Xtreme X2O 3 times a day for about 3 weeks now. He is currently on a school soccer team. In years past, anytime he has played sports he has always been dependent on his inhaler to assist his breathing in times of exertion.

He had a soccer tournament last weekend. He played two games in temperatures well above 90 degrees and NEVER ONCE did he need his inhaler! As for his level of hydration, it is unbelievable!

While some of the other parents were pouring Gatorade in there kids, Josh just kept drinking X2O and by the end of the 2nd game when all of the Gatorade kids were fading fast and exhausted, he was still ready to go! I can’t say enough about how lucky we feel to have found X2O.
